There is a break here in the Tunnel District as Tunnel 19 is just out of sight to the west and Tunnel 18 is east of Crescent, which is a 5,550 foot long siding. One of the more well-known landmarks that passengers on the Zephyr watch for is Gross Reservoir. The dam is one of the primary water supplies for Denver and currently holds roughly 14 billion gallons of water. As Denver is growing though, there is a project to also raise Gross Reservoir another 131 feet by 2025. This will nearly triple the amount of water in Gross Reservoir, adding 25 billion gallons of capacity, allowing a total of roughly 39 billion gallons of water to be stored.
