La Salle has a yard, and is the base of operations for several locals that serve customers along the Greeley Sub. This is very common with many sidings and is done to provide a better angle for the siding as it joins the main at the switch. You may note that there is a derail set on the siding here. That is due to a local that is currently in the siding and switching out cars at the yard in La Salle. Ever wondered why? This shot might help to answer that question somewhat! As you can see, traffic builds up on US-85, parallel to the tracks. Some people enjoy pacing the steam engine (in both lanes), making it virtually impossible for those in back to get ahead to the next shot.
