Hostlers were moving three units, which included this Warbonnet SD75I, from the yard to the engine house. When BNSF reactivated their SD75Ms and SD75Is, they also renumbered them in order to make room for new delivers. The new numbers actually reflect the original numbers when the units were delivered to Santa Fe. In the case above, BNSF 282. The train is pulling out of track 31 in BNSF's yard, preparing to double over to track 32 before departing toward the Golden Sub. As of this shot, the last time the westbound Zephyr left Denver on time was on May 1...more than three months earlier! In order to keep like-power in (reasonably) sequential number ranges on the roster, a lot of older power has been renumbered. Case-in-point is this SD75M. It was recently reactivated and the "8" of its previous number was hastily patched over, making the units new number simply 240.
