These containers are quite possibly bound for Chicago on the highest priority train BNSF runs out of Denver, the ZDENCHI. This yard represents BNSF's intermodal presence in Denver (which, admittedly, isn't much). BNSF runs an intermodal train between Denver and Tacoma, WA and one between Denver and Chicago, IL. Thus, the two tracks located at Rennicks are sufficient to get the job done! Here, a pair of SD40-2s prepare to pull a string of double stack containers south. Among other things, the company built thousands of concrete ties for railroads all over the country. The plant has moved to Pueblo, CO now and construction on a new maintenance facility for RTD (for EMU vehicles) is under way. The concrete tie plant (owned by Rocla) that used to be located just east of BNSF's Rennicks Yard has been moved to Pueblo, CO. The reason? RTD and the FasTracks project! The old building for the tie plant has largely been torn down and can be see way off in the distance. Meanwhile, a lot of construction has already been completed on the new Light Rail flyover.
