OUCH! No, not a new style of convertible engine...about a week before this picture was taken, several tank cars got away from a switch job in Rennicks yard and rolled back to the 38th street yard. The Salt Mine (switch job) was working the yard track that the tanks went down. BNSF 1532 here was one of the two units used for power. Fortunately, all crew members were notified in advance and nobody was injured.

This unit has seen far better days! In fact, this unit was up at East Portal (of the Moffat Tunnel) almost exactly three years ago on April 25, 2004. Here is a shot of the unit on that day. This SD70ACe, now listed an EMDX 70 was originally GM 70, one of the first SD70ACe prototypes. Note that the unit has undergone some serious modifications in the last three years...and the paint has not exactly been maintained!

BNSF 8814 has certainly seen better days! On May 17, 2006, BNSF 8814 was the lead unit on the C-ATMSUD0-93 15 miles east of Alliance, NE. The train was moving along at 38 MPH when it rear ended a train that was stopped ahead of it. The patch jobs here are the result of repairs made to the 8814 to get it back into service!

One of only a handful of "Baby Tunnel Motors" (GP15-1's) on BNSF's roster hangs out near the house in Denver. BN brought 25 GP15-1's over to the BNSF roster, although many of those have now been sold off to Locomotive Leasing Partners (LLPX). Prior to being BN, this unit was actually a Frisco GP15-1, delivered as SLSF 103 in August 1977.
