Note the numbers on the units...UP 1348 and UP 1349! The units are former Rio Grande GP40-2's, DRGW 3126 and DRGW 3128 respectively. The units were both Rio Grande as recently as April 2005. In fact, this unit was up at East Portal (of the Moffat Tunnel) almost exactly three years ago on April 25, 2004. Here is a shot of the unit on that day. This SD70ACe, now listed an EMDX 70 was originally GM 70, one of the first SD70ACe prototypes. Note that the unit has undergone some serious modifications in the last three years...and the paint has not exactly been maintained! Two NS units on an "earthworm" train - a unit covered hopper train - enters the LoDo siding for temporary storage.
