During a yard transfer, these three units are moving from North Yard over to 36th Street via the Belt Line. The first unit is, of course, a former Cotton Belt GP40-2. The second two units are in fact both former Rio Grande GP40-2's.

On their way into 36th Street Yard, these units are approaching York Street. Note the numbers on the units...UP 1348 and UP 1349! The units are former Rio Grande GP40-2's, DRGW 3126 and DRGW 3128 respectively. The units were both Rio Grande as recently as April 2005.

This is the first ex-BN GP50 that I've seen equipped as a Remote Control Unit. The unit was sitting near the house at BNSF's 38th Street facilities.

This unit has seen far better days! In fact, this unit was up at East Portal (of the Moffat Tunnel) almost exactly three years ago on April 25, 2004. Here is a shot of the unit on that day. This SD70ACe, now listed an EMDX 70 was originally GM 70, one of the first SD70ACe prototypes. Note that the unit has undergone some serious modifications in the last three years...and the paint has not exactly been maintained!

A view of the back end of EMDX 70. This was one of the original prototype SD70ACe's created by EMD back in 2004. The unit was sitting shut down near BNSF's 38th Street facilities on this Saturday morning.

Fortunately, you can still run across former Rio Grande units even in 2007. While DRGW 5371 is the only remaining Rio Grande unit left, there are many units that have only been patched that still roam the rails. Here, UP 1344 is on a transfer train headed to BNSF's 31st Street Yard from UP's 36th Street Yard.

In honor of Norfolk Southern's paint scheme, I thought this picture should be in black and white! Two NS units on an "earthworm" train - a unit covered hopper train - enters the LoDo siding for temporary storage. The train is passing one of the many building that has popped up in LoDo in the last few years.

Amtrak 5 is moving quickly west right at MP 14.5. The Denver Skyline rests under a hazy Saturday morning in the distance. Amtrak is running almost two hours late on this particular morning.

The Rocky Local is making a Saturday appearance on the Moffat line on this day. The two tank cars at the front of the train will be dropped off at Chem Spur (just ahead). The remaining covered hoppers will be taken up the Rocky Spur.
