I had heard the dispatcher contact this eastbound coal load and address them as "__P ___314 east" ... now, I didn't realize I had missed the leading six, and thought it might be SP 314! Alas, not that lucky on this particular day. The train is moving on an Advanced Approach signal, prepared to enter the siding at Leyden to meet four westbounds. The train is just about to pass through Rainbow Cut about halfway through the siding. UP has been keeping the Herzog train on the house track at Plain for the past few months. Rollins has been confused with Rawlins, WY in the past. A Renzenberger driver from Cheyenne was supposed to take a relief crew to Rollins late one night. This train was supposed to leave North Yard ahead of Amtrak, but after going into emergency twice when trying to leave, DS-86 held the train for Amtrak, the MNYPV, and the Ski Train!
