The sun glistens off the side of the first run of the winter Ski Train for the 2002-03 season. Unfortunately, Amtrak 242 (the normal lead unit for the train) is in the shops. On this morning, UP SD70M 5108 leads the Ski Train west.

Very early on a Saturday morning, a westbound UP manifest approaches a clear intermediate signal at Chemical, just west of Leyden. The manifest is about twenty minutes ahead of the first run of the winter Ski Train for the 2002-03 season.

With the hint of a rainbow in the background, this westbound coal train is approaching the intermediate signal at Chemical, CO. This is the first intermediate west of the siding of Leyden.
