Very early on a Saturday morning, a westbound UP manifest approaches a clear intermediate signal at Chemical, just west of Leyden. The manifest is about twenty minutes ahead of the first run of the winter Ski Train for the 2002-03 season.

The sun glistens off the side of the first run of the winter Ski Train for the 2002-03 season. Unfortunately, Amtrak 242 (the normal lead unit for the train) is in the shops. On this morning, UP SD70M 5108 leads the Ski Train west.

Even though I took this shot about three seconds too late (the nose of 5108 is in the shadows), I still felt it was worth posting. The Ski Train is just about to duck into Tunnel 1.
