A very nice scene was just waiting to be shot at the west switch of Cliff. The westbound MNYRO is heading west past South Boulder Creek on one side and snow-powdered pine trees on the opposite side.

At the west end of Cliff, an eastbound coal load went into emergency and stopped right on the switch. The train had problems with the first (of three) swing units that took about three hours to correct!

At the west end of Cliff, a coal train led by eight units blasts west along South Boulder Creek. This train was supposed to leave North Yard ahead of Amtrak, but after going into emergency twice when trying to leave, DS-86 held the train for Amtrak, the MNYPV, and the Ski Train!

Two UP DPU's head east (away from the camera) on the end of a loaded coal train. The train stopped at the grade crossing at Cliff (at the east end) for a quick crew change. Meanwhile, Espee 9794 leads a unit pipe train tied down on the siding at Cliff.

This is about the best shot I could get on the "sunny" side of this unit pipe train. Unfortunately, the west end of Cliff is not the best place to get shots lighting-wise, and this unit pipe train led by Espee GP60 #9794 was tied down and not going anywhere for quite some time!

Two CSX "Dark Future" ES44DCs help to power a loaded unit pipe train west on the Moffat. These GEVOs are less than three months old and it was a rare treat to see them so far from their home. Unfortunately, I was stuck with some rather awful back-lighting...

You don't see this everyday! In fact, these days, it'll probably never happen again! Unpatched Espee GP60 #9794 leads two CSX ES44DCs on a unit pipe train at Cliff. I can't even remember the last time I saw a mainline train led by a four axle unit prior to this shot. The train was tied down on the siding due to maintenance ahead.
