Two private cars bring up the rear of the Zephyr. 35 years ago, you could see cars like these two breezing by on the Moffat six days a week. They are veterans of the original California Zephyr, which ran until the formation of Amtrak in 1971.

After a great chase from Fraser, it is here, just east of Troublesome, that we will part ways with the westbound Zephyr. It is meeting a coal load at Kremmling and I'll be chasing that back toward Granby.
