UP 844 steams south, its smoke partially obscuring the Denver skyline in the background. The passenger train is headed for Pueblo for the Colorado State Fair. To the left of the train (to the right in the picture) is Main 2, Main 3, and two Light Rail tracks.

At the Evans Street overpass in Englewood, UP 844 is putting on quite a show! The train has a clear signal down Main 1 through the CTC as well as a warrant to continue south on Main 1 to Palmer Lake.

Got trains? Two northbound coals empties are tied down on Main Two and Main Three. A third coal empty slows to a stop at the intermediate signal at Evans to tied down as well. Meanwhile, a southbound coal load passes by on Main One, and an RTD Light Rail train makes a stop at the Evans Street Station.

A unit tank train sits tied down on Main 3 just south of the Evans Street Light Rail station. Because it is Memorial Day, there are trains tied down at South Denver on Mains 2 and 3, and trains tied down at the intermediate at Evans on Mains 2 and 3!

I try not to post too many roster shots, but there are certainly exceptions from time to time. BNSF 4000 is the "class unit" for the C44-9W's on the roster, and it is the lowest numbered C44-9W on BNSF's roster.

From the Evans Street overpass I observed this view of a southbound D-Line Light Rail racing a southbound coal load on Main One on the Joint Line…Okay, maybe it wasn't much of a "race"…

Two northbound coal trains, both tied down on mains 2 and 3 (from left to right) idle away while a southbound RTD Light Rail arrives at the Evans Street Station.

A look at the back end of a brand new SD70ACe. This unit arrived on BNSF in Chicago (from London, Ontario where it was assembled by EMD) on April 3, 2006.

BNSF announced in early 2006 that they would take delivery of 70 new SD70ACe's from EMD during the year. The first 11 units arrived at the beginning of April. BNSF 9376, fresh out of London, Ontario, was one of the 11 units.

A close look at the cabs of two brand new units. BNSF 5851 was delivered within the last six months and BNSF 9376 came onto the property in early April.

In the near future, this may well be the site on all BNSF coal trains. On the left, an ES44AC sits on the end of a coal train tied down on Main 2 while an SD70ACe sits on the end of a different coal train tied down on Main 3, both at Evans Street in South Denver. The track in the foreground is the southbound track for the Regional Transportation District (RTD's) Light Rail.

A new ES44AC sits as the last Distributed Power Unit on the back of a northbound coal empty at Evans Street on Main 2. The train was tied down awaiting a new crew.
