For several years up until early 2000, three or four tunnel motors ran between Ute, CO and Axial, CO as part of a shuttle train of workers. Here, the power for the shuttle train (DRGW 5344, 5354, and 5355) are headed east to Burnham for an inspection.

I was still in high school when I took what I consider to be the best night shot I have every taken. It was also my first attempt at a night shot with a train. Amtrak 6 flies past the signal at the west end of Leyden at 10pm.

The signal at the west end of Leyden is lit green over red for Amtrak 6. The sky is illuminated by the lights of the City of Westminster reflecting off the clouds. It is nearly 10pm and this was a 10 second exposure…my first experience with night shooting.
