Tried my best to get a rural looking shot despite the fact this area is anything but rural anymore! The Flat Iron Crossing mall is behind the train to the left and a relatively new condo complex is to the right. However, the Rockies look fantastic on a sunny February morning.
Interestingly, you can actually see UP's Moffat Tunnel Sub on the mountains in the distance! Plainview is roughly above the double stacks (with Rainbow Cut above the first car) and tunnels 3 and 4 are above the lead unit.

Two southbounds ahead of this train meant its warrants ran out at MP 17, so it had to stop and wait for the train ahead of it to get further down the track. With that requirement completed, a new warrant has been issued and the crew throttles up to continue south. You can always count on GE's to put on a good show when throttling up!

Power from the 21st Century (an ES44DC) leads up power from the 90's (a C44-9W) followed by some classic power from the 80's (an SD60), all running elephant style on the HDENLAU-02. Upon arriving at Longs Peak (just north of Longmont), the train will tie down due to maintenance further north on the line.

When the SD70ACes first came out, they did not have EMD's "Isolated" or "Whisper" cabs. Some crews claimed that the new units were louder (with their doors and windows closed) than SD40-2s (with their doors and windows open)! As a result, BNSF is ordering their newer units with Isolated cabs included. Note the "seam" that runs vertically on the sides of the cab just behind the nose. The cab is physically isolated from the rest of the unit, cushioning it and making for a quieter ride. This was the first SD70ACe that I had seen with the Isolated cab.
