While it is not uncommon for the Zephyr to encounter some delays, it is rather uncommon for it to experience delays this bad! This Zephyr is running over 14 hours late and should have passed through here last night. While not the best situation for passengers, it is an ideal situation for photographers, with the option to get the eastbound Zephyr in morning light. Unlike so many other coal empties, this particular train had quite a surprise in store with an SD40-2 on the point! Not only is it a DC unit instead of an AC unit, but a spartan cab! A fair number of CSX units have been showing up as power sharing on UP trains in Denver lately. I enjoy the added blue in the scene!
