On my way in to work this morning I stopped on the north side of the tracks at Leyden and waited for the eastbound MRONY to come my way. Just 8 hours earlier, the roads were not even wet here at Leyden! Nothing like a Colorado Blizzard!!

The accumulation of snow is quite apparent here on the nose of UP 4818. This is the trailing unit on the eastbound MRONY at Leyden, coming through just after 8:00am.

In the past six hours, almost three inches of snow has fallen thanks to this October Blizzard in Colorado. The Denver-Metro area was expected to get 4-6 inches, the mountains around the Moffat getting over a foot!

After a brief stop at Leyden to allow the dispatcher to confirm where the train would be going, UP 4309 approaches the grade crossing at Simms. The crew on board was being extremely safe, moving slowly through the Denver suburb, aware that cars were having a lot of trouble stopping!
