Now, the detector reports that it is a mere 18 degrees as the snow lightly falls on this eastbound coal load. The train would have clear signals all the way into town on this Thanksgiving-eve. This one came to mind this afternoon! The eastbound coal load is crossing over Kipling Street just miles away from North Yard. In the pre-UP era, that lower target on the signal on the right would display a lunar aspect, indicating a grade (restricting) signal. Today, the yellow G-Plate has been added (indicating a grade signal), and the lower target displays yellow, for a yellow-over-yellow aspect, if a train is going in the hole at Leyden (Approach Diverging).
