It is an unusually cool and wet August morning and passengers are probably very happy to be inside. On the left side of the picture, you might notice the headlight of another westbound. It was the coolest high temperature for August 16th recorded in the Denver area! As the Ski Train comes west out of Clay, it is pouring rain and only about 50 degrees out. The bases for the turbines are shipped via rail from California. The bases are sent in the form of unit trains every couple of weeks (give or take).
