Such was the case for me when I saw a headlight on the horizon on Main One. I was heading north on the I-25 Frontage Road (just south of Castle Rock). Upon seeing the headlight, I pulled over to get some shots, expecting a coal train. Much to my surprise, there was only a single ES44AC headed south! Not even sure exactly where it was off to... The rail was produced at CF&I (Colorado Fuel & Iron) in Pueblo. In the distance, headlights from the eastbound are visible. It is just a bit past 6:00pm and the sun is getting pretty low in the western sky. The train still has a long journey ahead of it as it is headed for Metropolis, IL. However, it will take a break in Denver on the Belt Bypass tracks. There, its swing helpers will be cut out and the train will wait for a new crew which will take it east on the Limon Sub.
