Just when you think Spring is really here in Colorado, Mother Nature likes to play an April Fools joke on you! Just 48 hours before this picture was taken (on April 1st), it was sunny and hot. And yet, April 3rd found this manifest making it's way through the snow in temperatures nearly 50 degrees cooler than two days earlier!

The lead unit on the MNYRO is so dirty that you can't even read the number on the cab! If you could, you see it is UP 5555 leading the 5,800-foot manifest in to the siding at Leyden. In a few minutes, the on-time Zephyr will overtake the train on the mainline.

Brrr! An on-time Zephyr is running on clear signals as it enters the east end of Leyden on the main. The train is passing the MNYRO, which will depart right behind the Zephyr so both may continue heading west. The snow should help to get the foliage nice and green!
