An eastbound coal load rolls slowly down the main at Leyden. The train had a yellow (approach) signal at the west end of Leyden as DS-86 had not yet setup a route out of Leyden due to maintenance. By the time reached the east end of Leyden, they had a signal to continue.

This coal train is a little heavier than most Moffat coal trains and, as such, has an extra unit. It is running 3x3x1 and, after cutting out the mid-train swing helpers in Denver, will head east on the KP running 3x(0)x1.

Two of the mid-train swing helpers on this eastbound coal load happened to be former (patched) CNW AC4400CWs. These units are really starting to look beat up as their paint schemes are getting close to being 20 years old.

The first day of Spring in 2014 was a very pleasant day along the Front Range of the Colorado Rockies. Two near 20-year-old former CNW AC4400CWs team up with a fairly new UP ES44AC, framed nicely by a tree that will be regaining in leaves in a month or so.
