When business has slowed and there has been a surplus of power, the SD60Ms have been put in storage. With the recent boom in oil, virtually all stored power has been put back on the active roster. This ex-ATSF GP20 is now owned by the South Plains Lamesa Railroad in Texas. While it has been on the roster for over a decade, it was just recently repainted in the scheme seen here. The GP20 is owned by South Plains Lamesa Railroad. This is a shortline with four GP20s, a GP20u, a CF7, and a pair of GP9s, located in Slaton, TX, southeast of Lubbock, TX. A GP20 for the South Plains Lamesa Railroad sits near BNSF's Engine House, waiting to head south on the Joint Line and be returned to its home. BNSF usually does a pretty good job of patching units to match their present paint scheme.
