Yard Shots BNSF
BNSF's SD60Ms have disappeared from and reappeared on the system a couple times over the last 15 years. When business has slowed and there has been a surplus of power, the SD60Ms have been put in storage. With the recent boom in oil, virtually all stored power has been put back on the active roster. Here, a pair of SD60Ms (recently patched in to the 1400-series) is moved toward the engine house by some yard hostlers.

Nothing too special here. Just a sharp looking ES44AC that seemed to merit a nice roster shot. While I love action shots, I also enjoy collected roster shots of an many units as I can. 30 years from now, this will be a classic shot of a unit that likely will either have been retired, or is being used on locals and in switching!

It definitely is not too often that you get the chance in 2015 to grab a picture of a GP20! This ex-ATSF GP20 is now owned by the South Plains Lamesa Railroad in Texas. While it has been on the roster for over a decade, it was just recently repainted in the scheme seen here.

This power will likely be on the point of a southbound train on the Joint Line within the next day or so. The GP20 is owned by South Plains Lamesa Railroad. This is a shortline with four GP20s, a GP20u, a CF7, and a pair of GP9s, located in Slaton, TX, southeast of Lubbock, TX. The unit is being returned to the SLAL after receiving a fresh paint job.

Got yellow? A GP20 for the South Plains Lamesa Railroad sits near BNSF's Engine House, waiting to head south on the Joint Line and be returned to its home. The unit spent most of its life in Santa Fe yellow and blue before being sold around 2000 to the short line.

In order to make room for newly arriving units, BNSF has moved its SD60Ms to a new spot on the roster. BNSF usually does a pretty good job of patching units to match their present paint scheme. A bit of an exception would be the "1448" patch, seemingly done quite hastily here (in black) on the cab of this SD60M.

It appears as though BNSF may have recently replaced a bridge, most likely the one over the South Platte River between the engine house and the yard. Multiple seconds were in a row along the passenger lead. Meanwhile, hostlers work to re-position BNSF 5603.
