Snow! It has been 25 days since there was any measurable snow in the Denver-Metro area, but a quick moving storm dropped several inches of the white stuff on this day. So it is always nice to come across one, such as on this eastbound oil train that is headed out of Leyden. The SD70MAC is the final DPU on the train. Temperatures have been in the 50°Fs on a fairly regular basis and snow has been all but non-existent. Both BNSF and UP seemed to run about one a week. However, when prices dropped and it became less economical to ship by rail, the new trains all but evaporated! BNSF still runs one...occasionally...though they are hard to predict. One happened to be rolling east here at Leyden on Martin Luther King Day.
