The City of Arvada annexed the (previously empty) fields from Jefferson County and, since then, hundreds of new houses have been built. There has been a slight increase in oil trains on the Moffat in 2020. These oil trains weight as much as coal trains. This particular train weighs in at approximately 12,400 tons. This is why there are two mid-train swing helpers. These helpers, and the buffer cars (covered hoppers) on either side of them will be cut out at North Yard. While the direction the DPU is facing is irrelevant in terms of train operations, it is always a little strange to see a single unit when it is not facing backward such as this.
