A westbound BNSF Denver-Provo manifest, with a trio of SD70ACes, waits in the siding at Rocky for a single UP SD70ACe that is currently headed east above at Eisele (Clay). The sole SD70ACe went west at 4am to help out an oil train that had stalled between Fraser and Winter Park. After bringing the train through the Moffat, the unit cut off and headed back to Denver light.

A single UP SD70ACe comes around the east side of Big Ten Curve, the Denver skyline visible in the distance. This unit went west earlier in the day to assist an oil train that stalled out between Fraser and Winter Park. After helping drag the train through the Moffat Tunnel, the unit cut away and is now headed back to Denver.

UP 8934 just met BNSF's Denver-Provo at Rocky. The BNSF conductor joked that "this is going to be a real hard roll by." The UP conductor replied "just make sure we have all six axles."

Temperatures are finally above freezing, but overcast skies are blocking the direct sunlight, so snow is still sticking around. Three SD70ACes lead the westbound Denver-Provo down the main at the east end of Eisele (Clay).

Snow is plentiful along the right-of-way at Eisele (Clay) as BNSF's trackage rights manifest passes by on its journey west to Provo, UT. The skies are overcast on this January morning, but the temperatures are actually above freezing.

The sun is technically minutes away from setting, but a thick layer of clouds to the west is blocking out the light, effectively creating blue hour with very low light. The ISO is bumped up (and the grain is definitely apparent) as UP's North Yard to Grand Junction manifest heads west out of Leyden. This exact same train attempt to head west just over 24 hours earlier, but stalled out due to two engines failing on the climb out of Rocky. The entire train backed down close to North Yard for new power. This is the second attempt (which will be successful).
