Despite it being early November and there being a lot of windy days this week, a lot of trees still have their leaves here. The detector ensure that nothing is sticking out from the train that might strike a tunnel or tunnel wall. No defects this morning as the train continues toward Denver. In the 1990s and early 2000s, Amtrak tried to help supplement revenue by hauling bulk mail and packages as well. Such things were hauled in box cars painted in Amtrak's Phase 4 scheme. Amtrak stopped the service in October 2004 as it was not actually generating a profit, and was delaying passenger trains due to freight moves at certain stations.
