Just outside of BNSF's 31st Street Yard, an empty unit auto rack train slowly approaches a lunar signal to enter the yard. The train would ultimately head for Rennicks and the Front Range Sub.

Gotta love the plow-totally-covered-in-snow shot! A pair of ES44AC's lead up a coal load. Not long ago, this train would have almost certainly been led by a pair of SD70MACs.

A westbound coal load is led by an SD70MAC and an ES44AC. The train has an approach signal as it approaches the yard. A broken switch in the yard is fouling things up a bit!

This is one of those Warbonnets that you almost hope gets repainted sooner rather than later! The red in particular has faded out to a pinkish color.

I came around the bend on Brighton Blvd (the road in the foreground) and came face to face with the eastbound HLINDEN (Lincoln, NE to Denver, CO) manifest. I pulled over to the shoulder to grab a few shots.

Yeah, this shot is a bit grainy, but I needed to add it anyway. My dad was actually on this westbound California Zephyr coming back from a trip to Chicago. It's still 20 minutes to sunrise and the clouds were not helping with the lighting! The train is at Irondale.

Waiting for a signal into the yard, BNSF's Lincoln to Denver manifest sits just east of the yard on the Brush mainline. BNSF's Beer Run just got into the yard and will have to enter the OS here at the east end to cut some cars. Hence the reason for the manifest holding here.

At the east entrance to BNSF's 31st Street Yard, the Lincoln, NE to Denver manifest (HLINDEN) had a CSX GP40-2 in the consist. We don't see CSX units in Colorado too often, and this is definitely the first four-axle power from CSX I've seen!

The Hudson Turn has just knocked down the clear signal at the west switch of Tonville. In the distance, a mere 7,100 feet away, you can see the green signal at the east end of Tonville. The local will have clear signals all the way to Hudson.

Looking down from the 168th Avenue overpass, the Hudson Turn has a clear signal on the approach to Tonville. The turn will switch out some tank cars at Hudson before returning back to town.

The HKCKPAS has a clear signal at the east end of Tonville to continue its trek east. The train was rerouted due to flooding in the mid-west. The reroute definitely added some time as the train comes west into south Colorado from Kansas, north to Denver, east toward Fort Morgan, north into Nebraska, then west into Wyoming!

Three Boeing 737-800 fuselages lead at the front of a very long HKCKPAS (Kansas City to Pasco, WA manifest). The large cars ahead of and behind the fuselages carry additional parts for assembly to be completed in Washington.

Planes and trains as seen from an automobile! The fuselage for a 737-800 rests on a flat car as it is transported from Wichita, KS to Seattle, WA. Typically these trains run through Nebraska, but recently flooding resulted in a re-route up the Joint Line and Brush Sub in Colorado.

Fuselages for Boeing airplanes are built in Wichita, KS. The final assembly of the planes takes place in the Seattle, WA area. So how do those fuselages get there? By train of course! Here, a fuselage for a future 737-800 is being transported by BNSF to Boeing in Washington State.
