At this location, UP trains coming from and going to Denver come through the junction on one track, BNSF trains coming from and going to Denver come through on another, all southbounds leave on a third track, and northbounds arrive on a fourth track. Here, a BNSF southbound is headed for the Pueblo Subdivision to continue on to La Junta. Northbounds arrive from the Spanish Peaks Sub on the track to the right. The southbound coal load here is staying on Main 1, but the ownership of the rails is changing from Union Pacific to BNSF. This is so named because trains briefly descend down a 1% grade. This is the former location of a crossover when Rio Grande and Santa Fe each had their own tracks. When the crossover were removed and the lines connected (to operate as the Joint Line), the southbound Santa Fe track descended down the embankment to connect with the Rio Grande track below.
