The back half of the train is on a stretch of track where only UP trains (and Amtrak) can run. But the head end is UP track that includes tracking rights with Amtrak, BNSF, and CPKC! Indeed, many of the signals along the Glidden Sub in southern Texas have not been replaced. They are still the class SP tri-light signals that were used when the Scarlet and Gray came through here on the Sunset Route.
