The landscape opens up, allowing for much higher speeds for trains. Here at east end of Chacra, the Zephyr passes by some brilliant fall colors as it picks up speed. The eastbound Zephyr is passing by stored hoppers in the siding at Chacra. The highway to the left is I-70, which the tracks more-or-less follow between Grand Junction and Dotsero.
