A very short southbound is approaching the grade crossing at Platteville on the siding. With ATCS installed along the Greeley Sub, the code line won't be around much longer. Kind of adds something to the shot, don't you think?

Just south of MP 33, we find UP 1989 as the sole power (on the point, anyway) on the North Platte to North Yard manifest. Perhaps, in an alternate universe, there are hundreds of units painted like this running around on the rails...

A few miles north of "downtown" Plateville, this local based out of La Salle has finished its switching for the day and is headed back north. Both GP40-2s on the train are ex-Rio Grande geeps. Prior to being patched, UP 1359 (on the point) was DRGW 3118. The second unit, UP 1348, was DRGW 3126.

Hands down this is my favorite shot from the entire day of shooting. It is almost 7:30pm and the sun is getting low in the western sky. The ZLADV is running on clear signals as it passes a wonderfully golden field just north of Platteville.

Union Pacific has been slowly replacing the signals along the Greeley Sub. The signal at south Platteville has yet to be replaced. While the signal hasn't been replaced, the codeline has. Not the ATCS radio tower seemingly coming up out of the middle of the lead unit.

US-85 parallels the Greeley Sub for most of the trip from Hazeltine to Nunn. Here, cars heading north on the highway are likely indifferent to the MNPNY-20, which is approaching the south switch of Platteville.

Just south of Platteville, UP's daily MNPNY (North Platte, NE to North Yard, CO) manifest is rolling on green signals. It is hustling to get to town ahead of the Frontier Days Steam Train special.

Just north of Platteville, this northbound MNYNP makes its way around one of the better curves on UP's Greeley Sub. If you look closely, you'll note that UP's Espee Heritage Unit is second out in the consist.

After nearly three years, the Espee Heritage Unit finally made its way to Denver. It came in the night before on the Moffat. Didn't hang out long! It headed north on the MNYNP the following day. Here, the MNYNP sits in the siding at Platteville, CO.

A last bit of light shines through here at Platteville before afternoon storm clouds totally take over. UP 1996 came through Denver for the first time. Here, the train sits on the siding at Platteville to wait for a southbound.
