The morning Zephyr is in the control point of Fox Jct (CP DS001). Construction on the pedestrian overpass started in 2014, and was completed and opened in 2015. It connects a lot of new apartments and condos on the west side of the tracks with the RTD B and G-Line Commuter tracks on the east side of the tracks.

At CP DS001 (Fox Jct), at the very east end of the Moffat Tunnel Sub, a unit UP ethanol train (with some foreign visitors for power) leads the train toward the Joint Line. The train came off the Belt Industrial Lead, running through North Yard on Track 1. It is now leaving the yard and entering Main 2 down to Propsect Jct where it will head south.

Just west (geographically north) of Fox Junction, the westbound Zephyr is just about an hour late. The train is on the only track under dispatcher (CTC) control. All other tracks in the shot (in the foreground, anyway) are yard limits.

On a beautiful, clear Memorial Day morning, the westbound Zephyr has departed Denver right on time and is heading west on the main next to BNSF's Rennick's (intermodal) yard. Note Pike's Peak, clearly visible this morning, standing tall at 14,115-feet above sea level.
