Three GEs (each a different model) lead the train. It wouldn't see another train until it met the eastbound Zephyr on the western slope! The power, which includes a CitiRail leaser on the point, was the same power from the Provo to Denver the day before. Which I happened to shoot at Leyden! This had been planned for years, but there was no funding. Finally, a mix of funds from Adams County, the Feds and Union Pacific came up with the money and the project is well underway. The new overpass would block the view of UP's signal bridge (for the Pecos Crossover), so the signal bridge is being relocated east.
