A trio of GEs bring up the tail end of this eastbound BNSF oil train as it roles east, away from the camera, on Main 1 toward BNSF's 31st Street Yard.

One of three DPUs on an eastbound oil train included a BNSF "sticker unit". Of the four big US Class 1 Railroads, BNSF is the only railroad that hasn't done any true heritage units. The closest they have come is with several of these units that have stickers of predecessor railroads on the long hood. These were released in 2020, the 25th anniversary of BNSF.

After meeting the westbound Zephyr between Tennyson and Lamar, BNSF 6158 is now back on the roll, heading east on Main 1. The train has a Diverging Advanced Approach (red over flashing yellow) ahead at C&S Junction. There, the train will cross over from Main 1 to Main 3 so it reach BNSF's yard.

AMTK 58 and AMTK 56 have the duty of running with the westbound California Zephyr on this Monday morning. The train is passing alongside Clear Valley Park to the south (right) and a mostly frozen over Jim Baker Reservoir to the north (left).

The morning westbound Zephyr made good time getting out of Denver and is just slightly ahead of schedule here, just west of C&S Jct on Main 2. Indeed, the crew is trying to keep up the good performance, exhaust pouring out of the P42DCs as the engineer throttles up. The track to the right is BNSF's Golden Sub, which runs to (among many other things), the Coors Brewery in Golden.

Even at the start of November, there is still quite a bit of fall color to be seen around the Denver-Metro area. Trees and shrubs just west of Pecos are showing off their yellows as a C44-9W leading two SD70ACes on the point of the BNSF Provo-Denver rolls slowly by on Bypass (Main) 2, approaching a diverging approach signal ahead at Pecos Crossover.

Four units lead a relatively short (compared to this trains typical length) 67 car manifest east on Main 2. This is the only manifest UP still runs on the Moffat. The cars come from industries in Grand Junction as well as on the Craig Branch. A few coal loads and a lot of covered hoppers are pretty typical for the train, and today is no exception.

A BNSF oil empty passes by the "Gold Strike" commuter station just east of the Sheridan Blvd overpass. The train is westbound on Main 2 with six units on the head end.

Amtrak now has three Phase 7 P42DCs (AMTK 174, AMTK 82, and AMTK 138). AMTK 138 is the newest repaint in the new scheme, and it along with AMTK 82 led the Zephyr westbound out of Denver. This is the first time a patched pair of Phase 7 P42DCs have led the Zephyr (or, to the best of my knowledge, any train).

The morning Zephyr, with a pair of Phase 7 P42DCs, heads west alongside the Sheridan Blvd commuter rail station. The Zephyr has what has become standard consist. A transition sleeper, two regular sleepers, a diner, a lounge car, and two coaches.

A trio of GEs, each representing different eras in technology, lead BNSF's Provo-Denver, currently stopped on Main 2 at Tennyson Street. The lead unit is an ET44C4. The second unit is an ES44C4. Finally, third out, is a C44-9W. Just after this picture was taken, the train got a light at C&S Junction and continued east to Prospect Junction.

After catching a UP SD70ACe-T4 a few minutes earlier at Pecos Street, here is the GE counterpart, an ET44C4. This is GE's tier-4 compliant locomotive. The unit led BNSF's Provo-Denver from Provo back over to Denver.
