BNSF is transporting a large load on a schnabel car. It will be delivered to the Great Western Railway in Loveland for final delivery. Here, the train heads north on the Front Range Sub as it passes through Niwot, northeast of Boulder.

This northbound special is currently stopped on the south side of Longmont. A local had a warrant on the track ahead, but just cleared it up. That allowed the special here to get a new warrant to proceed from the current location up to Loveland, where the train will be turned over to the Great Western Railway.

This special high/wide movement is utilizing a 20-axle "schnabel car" to transport what I presume is some sort of generator. Basing that on the "GE Vernova" on the side of the tarp protecting the heavy load.

Unfortunately, the westbound Zephyr developed some mechanical issues after departing Chicago. It quickly fell to being four hours late not far west of Chicago. By the time it made it Denver, it was nearly seven hours late! Here, at 4:15pm, the train is finally heading west on Main 1 between C&S Junction and Arvada. An Amtrak P42DC was part of the problem, and had to be removed in favor of this BNSF ES44DC. Not too often the lighting is so good for the westbound Zephyr.

A former Santa Fe C44-9W leads BNSF's Provo-Denver. The unit has been rebuilt into a C44ACM (or, as BNSF designates it, an AC44CM). There is a push by both UP and BNSF to convert older DC units into AC units. The train is tied down on Main 2 between Tennyson Street and Arvada.
