The first snow of the winter season (that resulted in any accumulation) hit on Veteran's Day! And on this day, the California Zephyr is running about 20 minutes late as it charges west through the white stuff just west of Leyden.

The Zephyr heads west through a cloud of snow about 14 miles west of Denver. Quite a different scene from 48 hours earlier, at this same location, when the sun was shining and the ground was dry.

A BNSF Officer's Special was called out of Cheyenne early Thursday morning for a trip down the Front Range Sub. Just after noon, the train was passing by the Valmont Power Plant in Boulder.

While a nice pair of E-units might look a bit better, this matching pair of ES44DC's look pretty good on the point of this Officer's Special coming around the Westminster Fill. After a crew change in Denver, the special will continue south to La Junta.
