At the east switch of Plain, the westbound MNYGJ heads down the main. While the MNYRO usually carries some cars to be setout in Grand Junction, there are days when the MNYRO doesn't run. Combine that with a high number of cars headed for Grand Junction and the MNYGJ is often needed. It runs every Sunday to be sure in place of the MNYRO.

A westbound coal empty takes the siding at Plainview. The dispatcher instructed the train to stop short of the grade crossing so as not to block cars. Unfortunately, this shot shows where the train actually stopped, which is much further east that normal.
