Evidence of this work is very apparent at Plain. Equipment is on the house track, there is a lot of panel track, and other ties and rail are in the area. Indeed, one of the hyrailers the train is waiting for is in the process of setting off of the main. In the distance, a westbound BNSF coal load pulls west on the main at Eisele (Clay). The tail end of the hoppers would hang out the east end of Tunnel 1. That does not happen often these days. However, on this afternoon, a westbound empty oil train is stopped short of the grade crossing. Indeed, its tail end is out the east end of Tunnel 1. It is pretty common for one car to be removed from the train during the winter season, ostensibly due to a decrease in demand. Both of these trains are actually eastbound. The oil train has slow-rolled on the main at Plain, allowing the BNSF manifest to catch up to it on the siding. The train is likely headed for the transload facility at Wash, UT, just east of Price. From there, it will return east over the Moffat and east on the plains to its final destination.
