Just west of the west portal of Tunnel 1, the second snow fall of the 2023-2024 winter season still largely covers the ground as the westbound Zephyr pulls west. The Zephyr is a little over an hour late this morning.

A single AC4400CW brings up the tail end of UP's thrice weekly MNYGJ, about to enter in to Tunnel 2. You can see the train threading its way west through the Tunnel District, as the train is in and out of Tunnel 3 and wrapping around the bend in to Tunnel 4.

You can see the three units on the head end of the MNYGJ as they approach the east portal of Tunnel 3. The rather lengthy train is still coming out of Plain and heading in to Tunnel 2.

UP's Dynamometer test car, UPP 210, is grabbing a ride on the tail end of the westbound Zephyr. It is about to disappear into Tunnel 2.

The westbound Zephyr is leaving the siding at Plain and is about to head into the east portal of Tunnel 2. The train is running close to ontime, considering its delayed departure from Denver of 12:35pm this week.

Four unpatched units (two ATSF C40-8W's and two BN SD40-2's) lead this westbound MDVSTJ out of Plain and into Tunnel 2. This was soon enough after the merger the BN/SF merger that unpatched units were still far more common that patched units!
