When first released, UP put in the largest single order (to that date) with 1,000 units. They followed that up over 400 additional orders. Granted, Kansas City Southern units don't make it to Colorado particularly often, but when they do, they are great to see. With the merger of CP and KCS, creating CPKC, both the Canadian Pacific and KCS paint schemes will be replaced by a new scheme. After two decades of the American flag on the long hood and wings on the nose, UP has changed their official paint scheme. The flag has been moved to either side of the short hood and the long nose just reads "Union Pacific" again. The wings have also, sadly, been removed from the nose. The town of Eaton is no exception, as you can see the various industries lined up along the mainline as a southbound manifest rolls on clear (green) signals through the middle of town. For this shot, I am standing at the now-closed Hwy 72 grade crossing. It appears that UP has been making a considerable effort to close as many crossing along the Greeley Sub as possible.
