It came out of the General Electric shops in Erie, PA in October 2007. The unit is on tap to run as the power on the MDVSI-02 later in the evening. They are ultimately headed for the San Louis & Rio Grande in Alamosa. The SLRG will use them on their tourist (passenger) trains. The steam engines original came to Denver via the Moffat, but got held at Winter Park because of clearance problems through the tunnel. So, they went back to Salt Lake and around through Wyoming. The manifest is built in the yard and then shoved back toward Union Station so the power can be put on. Then, once it has permission from the yardmaster, the train pulls out of the yard toward the Limon Sub to head east to Salina, KS. Large snow flakes fall in front of the camera while this former Espee Tunnel Motor poses for a shot. You can clearly see that UP 2937 started life (on UP's roster) as UP 4589. Doesn't matter what the conditions of the weather are or even if there are things in the way of the shot! This particular T-2 comes to UP from Espee. UP 2937 started life as SP 8264. This B40-8 (yep, a 4-axle unit) is actually of Espee heritage, delivered in 1987 as SP 8022. It was also delivered as a B39-8, but UP changed the designation in 1999.
