Leaving the last cut before Dale Junction behind, this westbound train is slowing on an "Advanced Approach" (flashing yellow) signal as it approaches the Junction.

At Dale Junction, UP's third main track (which lies on a separate grade from the first two main tracks west of Cheyenne) converges with the first two main's when heading west. Not far east of Dale is a massive cut towering at least 150 feet over the railroad. Here, a westbound unit grain train is about to pass through the cut.

Not far west of Cheyenne, two of the four main tracks diverge and go toward Speer. The remaining two continue west toward Sherman Hill. This eastbound is on main one approaching Cheyenne.
