The first part of this train is a manifest, while the second part is intermodal. A pair of mid-train swing helpers assist on the journey west. There was a northbound BNSF manifest in the area, for a chance for a "over/under" shot was in the cards. Alas, the northbound stopped to walk the train after it sparked a few fires along the right-of-way south of Cheyenne. UP 4014 backs away from the camera, headed for home at the end of this western tour. In one month and one day, the Big Boy will be departed Cheyenne east for a massive journey that includes a trip on Norfolk Southern to Philadelphia. The wye and tracks can leads west toward Laramie, north toward Cheyenne, or south toward Denver. Here, the Big Boy makes a reverse move on the southeast leg of the wye, and will cross over to Main 3 for the ten mile reverse journey to Cheyenne. The train will continue a reverse move roughly 10 miles back to the yard at Cheyenne. UP police were present at Speer Jct, making sure to keep railfans back from the mainline.
