From October 2007 to January 2008, GrandLuxe Rail Journeys contracted with Amtrak to add a seven cars to the end of Amtrak. UP 4576 leads the westbound MNYPV into the siding at Leyden. The train will be meeting an eastbound coal load (already out of Rocky) before continuing on west. However, on this first day of October, this particular train had BNSF 5720 in the lineup. This was one a pre-production GEVO from GE - in fact, this was the eighth-ever ES44AC produced! The blizzard, just getting started here with about an inch on the ground, is expected to dump between 18 and 26 inches of snow in the next 24 hours. The train run west in the morning (away from the sun) and east in the evening (away from the sun). That's why it is always great to find Amtrak running over seven hours late!
