Moffat Tunnel (UP) Ski Train, Rio Grande
One of the three F40PH's used on the Ski Train - SKTX 289 - had some bearing problems and was sent to Burnham for repairs. The stars aligned just right and the Rio Grande Heritage Unit was available. Here, UP 1989 leads the train west through Leyden.

It seems to be rare enough to catch UP 1989 out in daylight, but it was a special treat to find it leading the Ski Train! Here, the train is passing through Leyden near Alkire Estates. Ralston Valley High School, Arvada's newest High School, is visible on the right side of image just over half way up.

Amtrak is kicking up quite a bit of snow (which is then getting caught in the 20 MPH wind) as it approaches a clear signal at Chemical, 14.5 miles west of Union Station in Denver.

A couple of the Rio Grande GP40-2s that received a yellow patch on either side of the cab have actually been completed repainted recently. Such is the case with UP 1364 (ex-DRGW 3109), sitting near the yard office at UP's 36th Street Yard.

BNSF Hostlers take an interesting (and very colorful) consist to "the house". The unit that appears to be UP is actually now owned by Helm Leasing and is numbered HLCX 5957. The unit an SD60 of Chicago North Western heritage. HLCX 5957 is ex-UP 5957, nee-CNW 8026. The unit painted in UP colors on May 9, 1997 and was retired by UP on January 4, 2002.

One of my favorite units from the pre-BNSF era would have to be the SD60M's that BN ordered in 1992. Some units have the typical two-pane wind shield, while some have a three-pane wind shield. I personally prefer the two-pane as seen here!

Yard Shots Ferromex
Ferrocaril Mexicano (known as Ferromex) is one of the largest railroads in Mexico. The railroad was formed in 1998 after most railroads in the country were privatized. Recently, Ferromex ordered several new ES44AC's from General Electric. One such GEVO is seen here on a westbound Denver to Provo manifest.

Slowly moving west (on an approach signal), BNSF 4880 has just about completed its trip through Barbara's Gulch just east of Rocky. Today's Denver to Provo train has two Ferromex GE's in the consist with it!
