After spending nearly two weeks on the western end of the Grande (in the Salt Lake City - Provo area), UP 1989 returns back to Denver. Here, it is the fourth unit on the MPVNY-30, stopped at a red signal at Leyden. Note the Denver skyline in the distance.

Although nobody is out on the platform, several people are in the Kansas as the Ski Train head west past one of the few remaining signals from the days of the Rio Grande.

Approach a green signal at the east switch of Leyden, the Ski Train is running about fifteen minutes late due a late arrival from Amtrak that blocked the Ski Train's departure.

After picking up some covered hoppers, and five bad order (uncovered) hoppers, the Rocky Local heads slowly east out of Leyden. The bad order hoppers had the train restricted to 20 MPH for its trip east.
