Just west of Toponas, UP 5933 passes a clear intermediate signal under partly cloudy skies. During this time of year, it is unlikely that the skies will stay clear all day long. Thunderstorms often move in during the afternoon hours.

A very rare opportunity presented itself on this particular day. Amtrak 6 was running twelve hours late, passing just west of Leyden shortly after 6:00am. It is very unusual to capture the eastbound Zephyr in the Denver area in morning light!

Go ahead, take a guess as to who this train belongs to! Running on UP tracks, this westbound is being led by an NS C40-9W, a CSX SD50 and a BNSF ES44AC! It is in fact a BNSF track rights train, the MPUEPVO, headed to Provo, UT. The train is just west of Leyden.
