This is very close to the spot that Rio Grande regularly kept a pair of GP30s. Case-in-point is this photo from 1988. This is the oldest picture that I personally shot that I have on my site! I'm not sure if UP 5590 was one of the units with the spreader, or if it came through during the blizzard and collected its snowy hat along the way. A string of 20 units ranging from newer power to classic power sits on run-around track in North Yard. Meanwhile, a remote control operator moves a set of switchers out of the way on the lead to make room for three units from the MNPNY to pull off the train on yard track four. Such is the case with UP 1349 which, up until May 16, 2005, was DRGW 3128. On this December morning, the unit was sitting alone on the ready tracks north of the fueling tracks. The word Qwest is on all four sides of the building and at night they are illuminated very brightly in blue!
