Running right on time, Amtrak 5 highballs Leyden on its journey west out of Denver. Even this late into the season, some of the trees still have leaves trackside. The two P42's on the point are wearing Amtrak's Phase V paint scheme, and all the cars are wearing the Phase IV scheme.

The American Orient Express is set to come out of Denver on this morning to head west to San Francisco. Originally, the MNYRO-09 was going to hold at Leyden to let the AOE pass. However, as the train approached the west end of Leyden, they got a green signal. The train was taken to Clay and a coal empty was released ahead of the the AOE. The coal train took the siding at Leyden, and the AOE got delayed!

On a rather "blah" morning as far as the weather goes, the American Orient Express makes its way west on its six day journey to San Francisco. Amtrak 188 on the point looks like it could use some sanding and painting.

A lot of building have creeped up out near the cracking tower at Chemical over the past 20 years. Regardless of some of the clutter in the background, the AOE stills looks good as it passes the new intermediate signal at Chemical.
