With the Denver skyline as a backdrop, Amtrak 5 passes through Fox Junction on the Main Track heading north towards North Yard. The south end of Rennicks (BNSF's intermodal yard) is on the left.

When leaving Denver, BNSF's Denver to Laurel train passes through brief pockets of CTC before hitting track warrant territory on the Front Range Sub. This HDENLAU-09 has just passed through one of those territories as it proceeds north on the BNSF New North Main.

Typically, the BNSF "Beer Run" leaves Golden in the morning to come east into Denver. This was not a typical Sunday, however, as the Beer Run started the day out in Denver. Here, the train passes underneath I-25 as it departs 38th street and heads north.

The Beer Run is about to pass underneath Sheridan Blvd on its relatively slow trip west from Denver out to Golden. On the left, the UP Main (Moffat Tunnel Sub) sits quite with the Arvada siding next to it.

Moving at no more that 8 or 9 MPH, the Beer Run has nearly completely its westbound journey. The train is about to pass under McIntyre Street as it enters the east yard at Coors.

SPSF? Okay, maybe not quite. However, two engines from one possible future sit near each other at the house in BNSF's yard. Ironically, the Espee unit has been patched UP and the Santa Fe unit has been patched BNSF!

BNSF 8070 somehow wound up with a very unique nose patch. The white stripes were removed and the old BNSF herald was added in their place. On this day, the unit was the second of two SD40-2's switching 38th street in Denver.

A rather shabby looking GP35 and a very clean looking GP30 bring in the "BN Transfer" train from UP at North Yard. The units will take the train down into 38th street for classification.

This is the first Wisconsin Central unit that I have ever seen in person. I believe that this SD45 might still have its 20-cylinder (3600 HP) prime mover! The unit led the "kick den" (KCKDEN) intermodal train from Kansas City to Denver early in the day.

A lot of Colorado Rockies baseball fans stand near the tracks at the Englewood station as a northbound C-Line Light Rail train slows to a stop.

A southbound train approaches the Englewood station running parallel to the UP/BNSF Joint Line. Note the RTD Light Rail maintenance facility in the distance.

From the Evans Street overpass I observed this view of a southbound D-Line Light Rail racing a southbound coal load on Main One on the Joint Line…Okay, maybe it wasn't much of a "race"…
